New 4MVA Substation

JM Controls and Electric was hired as the design / build contractor for a customer expanding their manufacturing facility. The new expansion required increasing the size of the substation from 1500KVA to 4000KVA. JM engineered, project managed and acted as the general contractor on the project. Our scope of work was:

  • Install new 4000KVA transformer
  • Re-work existing fusing and 28KV feeder cable / tower to accommodate new transformer
  • Provide new 28KV fusing and primary cables
  • Install new 4000KVA switchgear and custom bend bus-work to connect to existing switchgear
  • In a 3 day outage, remove old transformer, install new vault, install new transformer and install custom busway to new service
  • Test and certify all work and re-energize for midnight shift on day 3

The project was completed on time and on budget and the customer was able to maintain plant output and minimize production down time.
